Chief Super Market, Inc. Is First In Nation to Offer Free Medications & Wellness Program

Defiance, OH - July 2, 2010. Today Chief Super Market, Inc. launched an exclusive wellness program at Chief Pharmacy & Wellness, 705 Deatrick St., Defiance. A first in the nation, customers with high blood pressure, diabetes or cholesterol issues can benefit from the supermarket pharmacy providing the perfect combination of free medication, health screenings and nutritional support.

The multi-tiered program offers a free 30-day supply of Lisinopril (for blood pressure), Metformin (for diabetes) and Simvastatin (for cholesterol) with a valid prescription or prescription transfer. All strengths of these three medications are included in the program.

Free in-store blood pressure and blood glucose screenings are scheduled throughout the remainder of the summer to assist those customers who want to monitor their progress. Additionally, free nutrition guides, store tours and cooking demonstrations are also available to support customers wanting to make healthy dietary changes.

"Being both a supermarket and pharmacy puts Chief in a unique position to offer this one-of-a-kind comprehensive wellness program," says James Straub, Director of Pharmacy. The medications in this program were the most prescribed generic medications in the last few years across the country.

"We can now become that one-stop destination for wellness. We've just increased the accessibility of affordable health care in the Defiance area. And by being good neighbors, Chief can help build healthier lifestyles while saving our customers some money," says Annette Hoeffel, Director of Marketing.

Laura Danosky, Pharmacist in Charge
Rays Clocktower, 927 N. Cable Rd.
Laura received her degree in Pharmacy from Ohio Northern in 1990. Laura began her career as an intern and later as a part-time Pharmacist at Peper Drugs in Ada. She has over 20 years of "independent pharmacy" experience. Laura is married with four children and is also active in promoting Austism awareness.


Lisa Schaaf, Pharmacist in Charge
Rays Marketplace, 2100 Harding Hwy.
Lisa graduated from Ohio Northern with a degree in Pharmacy. She brings over 20 years of pharmacy experience to Rays Pharmacy & Wellness Center. Lisa lives in Lima with her husband and son.


Janis Allen
Janis has over 30 years of retail pharmacy experience and is certified to administer immunizations. She received her pharmacy degree from Ohio Northern University. She lives in Ada with her husband, Robert, and two sons, Robby (16) and Ryan (14). She enjoys spending time with her family and attending her boys' sporting events. Janis is looking forward to meeting new people and serving Rays customers for all of their health care needs.
  
Jim Straub Named Pharmacy Director At Chief Super Market

Defiance, OH -- July 7, 2008. Stephanie Skylar, President & CEO of Chief and Rays Supermarkets announced the appointment of Jim Straub to Pharmacy Director. Jim will oversee the operations of three Rays Pharmacy & Wellness Centers in Lima and the Chief Pharmacy & Wellness Center in Defiance.

"Jim has worked with Chief for the past year. He has a rich history in the pharmacy industry and will help Chief and Rays pharmacies grow into the future. We are very excited to have Jim in this position," said Skylar.

Jim holds a Degree in Pharmacy from Ohio Northern University. He is a second-generation pharmacist, who worked with his father, Emil, before Emil retired. Jim has a background in training, management, team building, revenue growth, and administration. Jim and his wife reside in Lima, Ohio.
